Use a building as a maker space

  • Community maker spaces are growing movement among municipalities across the world. The idea is simple: using a large building to create a collective workspace divided into not only traditional areas of manufacturing (e.g., a machine shop, a woodshop, digital printshop, etc.) but also new relatively clean technologies such CNC routing, 3d printing, plasma/laser/waterjet cutting, and other such modern tech)
  • Instead of building just one 400 sq ft tiny house a year, CJSHS students could earn extra money and build maybe a dozen of them a year, thus ameliorating the current housing problems in Calistoga. There would be enough area on the fairgrounds to store until used.
  • Revive race track. Off-event use. Tricounty flea market, or outdoor exhibition space during summer months. Outdoor exhibitions could include manufactured homes. Electric vehicles, farm equipment, RVs, Motorcycles, food fairs, NAB (non-alcoholic beverage) exhibitions, and some other uses not thought of yet. It could also be an open-air concert space.
